ISO/IEC 27001 is an internationally applicable standard defining Information Security Management system requirements, especially information trust management for employees, processes, IT systems and company strategy. These standards are set by the International Organisation for Standardization, known by its acronym ISO.

In 2013, the UK government introduced a ‘Cloud First’ policy for all technology decisions in public sector. As part of the Cloud First policy, the government launched the Digital Marketplace which is an online catalogue for public sector organisations to find technology solutions.
